02 / Behind the sound

Different influences.
One shared vision.

It started in 2009 with Martin Chwalczyk, Henrik Niesler and an idea: music with the adventurous spirit of progressive rock and the weight of metal. Björn Zimmermann and Michael Spindler joined them along the way.

The voice that brought it all together came from more than 8,000 kilometres away. Deibys Artigas recorded his vocals in Venezuela, connecting two continents on Incarnation I.

The long road to Incarnation I

What began as a plan to record an album within a year became a much longer journey. Early recordings with singer Tina Brenzel shaped the first songs. Drum sessions at Spacelab Studio followed in 2015, while day jobs, growing families and the search for the right voice repeatedly changed the pace.

After collaborating on early versions of “Saturn” and “Qandisha”, Deibys Artigas took on the album’s vocals in 2019. Sandra Bullet contributed lyrics and additional vocals; Tina’s voice remained part of “Beyond”. The final recordings, including “Desolation”, brought the project together.

Produced by Henrik Niesler, mixed and mastered by Peter Koch, and featuring artwork by Patrizia Dietrich, Incarnation I was released on 8 April 2022.
